Getting to Know Taew Nathaporn from ‘Dong Poo Dee’

“Taew” Nathaporn Taemerat was a regular star in TV Commercials before she signed a contract with channel 3. Today she made her first big break in the role of “Kom” in hit lakorn “Dong Poo Dee” – at this point, her name is fastly winning recognition as a rising commodity.

Here is a partly translated version of Taew’s interview with Komchadluek Newspaper.

Is your personality in real life anything like your character ‘Kom’?

“I think we’re different. Kom is very prim but I am not so prim at all. However I am not  too wild either. I’m just like any other kid, there’s a fun side to me when I’m with my friends. But generally I’m not brave to start conversations with people I don’t know and because of that people tend to generalised me as being prim. But honestly, with my friends I’m a very talkative person”

Has this industry changed you as a person?

“Being in the industry made me more confident to express myself. If today I am sitting as Taew who’s never done a TV Commercial I would be sitting here looking very different to how I am now. Back then, I was too shy but once I started acting in commercials I became more confident”

You’ve done a lot of auditions when you were young, so you’ve always wanted to work in the ET industry?

“Truthfully, at first I didn’t think I would be so determined. I always tell my mom I don’t want to go to any audition after school. I want to go home and watch TV but then my mom would say you should go and I would retaliate and say I have a lot of home work. But in the end my mom would force me to go. When I actually get to work, I enjoyed it and there was nothing to lose. My mom sent me to auditions ever since I was 15-16. I got in to the industry through modelling and no it’s not because of my mom’s influence. Although when I finally started working, she said it’s a good thing because it makes me more confident”

In the beginning how did you see the industry?

“When I was still just doing TV Commercials, I didn’t think I was going to become an actress. The industry is far beyond me. In the beginning I thought acting doesn’t look that hard but once I got to try it I realize it’s not easy at all. Before anyone can try to portray a character from a script – to act as someone else other then your own self you need to do so much work. There’s a lot of work involve in a scene that airs for only 2-3 minutes”

Fame usually comes with a price – such as bad rumours, does that worry you?

“Right now there’s nothing but maybe in a bit I will have to see. But I’m not afraid of bad news although I don’t want to be involve in scandals and I do get quite shocked with the way the media likes to publish their headlines. It just seems scary sometimes, like leaking clips, it’s scary. One time I lost my cell phone but I don’t think anything will happen because I never take those kind of clips”

Do you have to be more careful?

“As a celebrity you have to be cautious to a degree but not to the point where you lose your individuality. But you just have to maintain yourself to a level that will make you look good to the public”

So what was your goal when you were younger?

“I wanted to study architecture because I want to become an architect like my mom. Till this day, this is still my intention. After studying architecture I realize it’s quite fun and even though it is very tiring but I think I’m suitable for that type of work”

So in the future you will definitely become an architect?

“I’m not sure (laughs)”

Do you think by being a girl, will that be a problem as an architect?

“It might be because most people trust men in this kind of job more then women. But men might not pay attention to small details. I think both sex are good at different things”

Are you seeing anyone at the moment?

“I am talking to someone”

What’s love in your opinion?

“Love is probably about understanding someone and the reasons why they do what they do. Understand each other inside out”

Being as beautiful as you are, do you get a lot of men hitting on you?

“Not really because I don’t really talk much. Guys don’t really come up to me to hit on me but sometimes I find out from someone else that someone has a crush on me”

What kind of guys don’t you like?

“Guys who are very pushy and upfront when they try to hit on you because I get scared. If they want to hit on someone they need to be smart and innovative. Do it in such a way that girls would least expected, it’s more exciting that way”
